City High Bowlers Make History With District Title to Earn First State Tournament Appearance

The City High girls bowling team made history on Tuesday.
City High secured the first state tournament appearance in program history by winning the Class 3A, District 2 title at Colonial Lanes in Iowa City.
The Little Hawks won the title with a score of 2,720 to outdistance runner-up Cedar Rapids Prairie which finished with a 2,609.
Linn-Mar was third with a score of 2,590 and Bettendorf was fourth with 2,569 pins.
West High finished sixth with a score of 2,189.
City High had three individuals finish in the top seven led by junior Elyse Rios who was runner-up with a two-game score of 429.
Bettendorf sophomore Ammiah Wynn won the individual title with a 461 with Rios was second and Linn-Mar junior Marissa Bills was third with 418 pins.
City High also got top-10 finishes from junior Britney Russell who was sixth with a score of 392 and freshman Makayla Saylor who was right behind at seventh with a 380.
Shaylin Brown rolled a 363, senior Jillian Hubble finished with a 329 and senior Carlie Prymek had a 294 for City High which will compete at the Class 3A state tournament on February 23 at Cadillac Lanes in Waterloo.
Sophomore Neena Turnblom had a 307 and sophomore Kayla Schindler a 292 to pace West High.
