Girls Basketball Roundup: West High Picks Up Where it Left Off With Win Over Fort Madison

A two-week break appears to have done little to cool off red-hot West High.
In its first action since January 23 Class 5A sixth-ranked West High ran its winning streak to six in a row with a 66-34 win over Fort Madison on Saturday in a non-conference contest at West High.
The Trojans appeared to be hitting their stride last month with wins over 5A ranked opponents Cedar Falls and City High part of a string of five consecutive victories.
West High was forced to pause for two weeks following Covid protocol after a 60-26 win over Marion on January 23.
There wasn’t much rust on display on Saturday as senior Audrey Koch led three West High players in double figures with a game-high 21 points.
Matayia Tellis added 11 and Meena Tate had 10 points as West High improved to 8-3 on the season.
Lucy Wolfe, Anna Prouty, Melae’ Lacy and Emma Ingersoll-Weng all had six points in the win.
Fort Madison had a 14-game winning streak snapped with its first loss since December 4 and dropped to 15-2 on the season.
Malarie Ross led the Bloodhounds with 20 points while Camille Kruse and Brandy Walker each had seven points.
