Softball Roundup: Solon Snaps Skid With Sweep of Marion

Solon stopped a two-game losing skid with a sweep of Marion on Monday in a WAMAC East Division doubleheader in Solon.
Class 3A eighth-ranked Solon won the opener 3-1 and took the nightcap 6-5 to improve to 20-10 on the season and 19-3 in WAMAC action.
Marion dropped to 14-16 on the year and 8-12 in conference play.
Solon scored twice in the first inning of the opener and held on for a 3-1 lead.
Freshman Carly Ellison earned the win in game one allowing one run on four hits in 3 2/3 before giving way to Kayla West who allowed just one hit and struck out three in the final 3 1/3 innings.
Taylor Ryan and Elyse Rios each had three hits for Solon in the opener while Hilary Wilson went 2-for-3 with two doubles.
Ryan, Monet Barnhouse and Jada Buffington scored runs in the win.
Solon built a 6-2 lead after three innings in the nightcap and held on for the win.
Wilson, Ryan, Buffington and Skyler Stookey all had two hits in the game two win.
Wilson drove in three runs while Buffington, Stookey and Taylor Moore all drove in one.
Ryan Scored twice for Solon while Ava Stebral had a hit and scored a run.
West earned the win allowing five runs on six hits while striking out seven and walking three.

Regina Rolls Past Cascade
Class 2A seventh-ranked Regina hammered 12 hits and rolled to an 11-0 five-inning win over Cascade in a River Valley Conference cross-divisional matchup in Cascade.
Regina improved to 11-12 on the season and 9-3 in RVC play with the win while Cascade dropped to 10-11 and 4-8 in conference play.
Katie Bracken struck out 11 in a one-hit shutout to lead Regina.
Annie Gahan went 2-for-3 with a double and drove in four runs for the Regals while Carrigan O’Connor went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs.
Maeve Dunne and Emma Nibaur each had two hits and drove in a run and Jess Hunter and Courtney Kessler each had a hit and an RBI.
