Softball Roundup: Liberty High Earns Split With No. 13 Cedar Rapids Prairie

After being held without a hit in a 6-1 loss to Class 5A No. 13 Cedar Rapids Prairie in the first game of a Mississippi Valley Conference doubleheader on Tuesday Liberty hammered out 11 hits while salvaging a split with a 14-4 win in the nightcap.
Liberty High improved to 7-9 on the season and 7-5 in MVC play while Cedar Rapids Prairie moved to 12-5 and 7-3 in conference play.
Payton Akers held Liberty High without a hit in the opener, striking out nine and walking seven in a complete game win.
Liberty High turned the tide in the nightcap.
Brylee Klosterman, Raquel Trolliet and Ashlyn Geasland all had two hits for Liberty High in the nightcap.
Klosterman and Geasland each drove in two runs while Trolliet tripled twice, scored two runs and drove in a run.
Tiffany Jones, Kelsey Phipps and Kennedy Daughtery all had hits and drove in runs for the Lightning.
Kinsley Robertson earned the win allowing four runs on 10 hits while striking out three in 3 2/3 innings.
