Liberty trailed 6-1 in the top of the third inning when Alec Boldt stepped into the batter’s box with the bases loaded. The junior first baseman took a strike, fouled off a pitch, and then drove the 0-2 offering over the left field fence for a grand slam.
The Lightning finished with 13 hits including three homers in a 13-10 win over Cedar Falls on Friday night. Tiger senior Casey Sole threw a no-hitter in the second game as Cedar Falls earned a double header split with a 10-0 win.
Nolan Frey went 5-5 in the early game and finished a home run shy of the cycle, driving in four runs. Isaac Bender also had a four-RBI day and gave the Bolts their first lead of the game with a three-run homer in the fifth.
Leadoff hitter Tyler Dahm had a hit, a walk and scored three times. Cayden Duhaime was 2-3 with a walk and had three runs as well. Ethan O’Donnell earned the two-inning save, inducing five ground ball outs. He allowed a single run on two hits and one walk.
