Neeley Maurus is headed to the state golf meet.

Maurus fired an 84 to earn runner-up medalist honors on Monday at the Class 4A, Region 5 meet to secure a spot at the 4A state meet.

The Liberty High sophomore shot a 40 on the back nine on Monday at Pleasant Valley Golf Course in Iowa City to finish three strokes in front of third place Lizzie McVey of Pleasant Valley.

Maurus will compete at the 4A state meet on May 28-29 at Coldwater Links in Ames.

City High placed fourth at the meet with a 391 while Liberty High was six shots back in fifth place with a 397.

Bettendorf won the team title with a 333 and Pleasant Valley was second with a 376 to advance to the state meet.

Kaylee Paulsen shot a 90 to pace City High, finishing in eighth place while teammate Emily Knoche shot a 97.

West High shot a 407 to place fifth at the Class 4A, Region 4 meet on Monday at Gardner Golf Course in Marion.

Dubuque Senior won the team title with a 375 and Dubuque Hempstead was second with a 381 to advance to the state meet.

Solon Ninth, CCA 10th at 3A, Region 5 Meet

Solon placed ninth and Clear Creek Amana was 10th at the Class 3A, Region 5 meet at Springbrook Country Club in DeWitt on Monday.

Washington won the team title with a 371 while Central DeWitt was runner-up with a 379 and Davenport Assumption was third with a 396.

Solon was ninth with a 442 followed by Clear Creek Amana with a 456.
