West High returned to the Class 2A state tennis final four on Friday the same way they have done everything else this season – in dominating fashion.
Top-ranked West High didn’t drop a set in sweeps of Dubuque Senior and Bettendorf in a Class 2A substate at West High, returning to the final four for the ninth consecutive season.
The defending state runner-up Trojans improved to 16-0 in duals this season with 15 of those wins coming via shutout.
West High didn’t need doubles play in either of its wins on Friday, defeating both Dubuque Senior and Bettendorf 5-0 in singles play.
The Trojans defeated Dubuque Senior 5-0 in the opener while Bettendorf downed Cedar Rapids Jefferson 5-0.
West High then advanced with a 5-0 shutout of the Bulldogs.
The Trojans will play for a sixth state title in nine seasons on May 28 at the Ankeny Tennis Courts at Prairie Ridge Sports Complex in Ankeny with the semifinals beginning at 8:30 a.m.
