Golf Roundup: West Branch Runner-up at Tipton Tournament

West Branch had a pair of golfer finish in the top four on its way to a runner-up team finish at the Tiger Classic golf tournament on Thursday at Tipton Golf and Country Club.
Freshman Brady Knoop fired a two-over-par 74 to finish third and Ted Bridges shot a 75 to place fourth as West Branch carded a 308 to finish seven strokes back of team champion Central DeWitt.
Host Tipton was third with a 328 followed by Wilton with a 332, Maquoketa with a 342 and Solon With a 344.
Regina was seventh with a 352.
West Branch had four players shoot 80 or better as freshman Dylan Countryman carded a 79 and Kaleb Sexton shot an 80 for the Bears.
Regina was led by Mark Schomer with a 76 while Luke Van Roekel shot an 84 and Lucas TePoel shot an 86 to pace Solon.

City High Third at Waterloo West Quad
Emily Knoche placed third with a 46 to lead City High to a third-place team finish on Thursday at a Mississippi Valley Conference quadrangular at Gates Golf Course in Waterloo.
Cedar Rapids Xavier won the team title with a 180 led by individual medalist Ellie Braksiek’s 37 while Western Dubuque was second with a 194 and City High was third with a 214.
Kaylee Paulsen shot a 54 for City High and April Wilson added a 56 for the Little Hawks.
