Clear Creek Amana junior Brandon McCarty fired a one-under-par 35 to earn medalist honors in a WAMAC Conference dual with Benton Community on Thursday at the Amana Colonies Golf Club in Amana.

Benton Community defeated Clear Creek Amana 187-170 in the dual but McCarty earned medalist honors by four strokes after a 35 on the back nine of the course.

Ryan Navara added a 45 for the Clippers and Isaac Quinn shot a 53 for CCA.

West Branch Fifth at Hawk Invite

The West Branch girls golf team shot 410 to place fifth at the Mid-Prairie Hawk Invite on Thursday at Kalona Country Club.

Tipton edged runner-up Williamsburg for the team title by one stroke shooting a 371 while host Mid-Prairie was third with a 386 followed by Wilton with a 407.

Lexi Clemens shot a 99 to pace West Branch while teammate Lauren Nalan fired a 100 and Savannah Sexton shot a 103.

Tipton’s Alli Nash won the individual title with an 89.

City High Third at MVC Quad

City High shot a 208 to place third at a Mississippi Valley Conference quadrangular hosted by Cedar Rapids Jefferson at Twin Pines Golf Course in Cedar Rapids on Thursday.

Emily Knoche fired a 49 to pace the Little Hawks while Kaylee Paulsen carded a 50 for City High.

Cedar Rapids Washington won the team title with a 183 followed by Linn-Mar with a 194.
