Solon earned its first team victory of the season on Thursday claiming the title at the Ron Maxson Relays in West Liberty.

The Spartans won five events and rolled up 160 points to finish 17 in front of runner-up West Liberty.

Tipton was third with 141 points followed by Durant with 101 and West Branch with 70.

Solon swept the throwing events as Coal Flansburg won the discus with a toss of 158-11 and Rocky Lensing took the shot put with a mark of 50-3.

Adam Bock won the 100 in 11.62 and Thomas Brandt edged Zach Thompson of West Branch to win the 400 hurdles in 1:01.23.

The Spartan 4×100 relay team of Jace Andregg, Jackson Pipolo, AJ Coons and Bock won in a time of 45.0.

West Branch got an individual title from Thompson in the 400 in 54.1.
