Marko Migambi scored three goals in the second half to lift Class 3A sixth-ranked West High to a 4-0 win over No. 7 Cedar Rapids Washington in a Mississippi Valley Conference cross-divisional matchup on Tuesday at Barker Field in Iowa City.
Migambi scored twice in a four-minute span in the second half as West High broke open a scoreless game at the half while improving to 5-1 on the season and 3-0 in MVC play with its fifth consecutive win.
Josh Jasek added a second-half goal as West High secured its third win over a ranked opponent.
Migambi got West High on the board in the 43rd minute and added a second goal in the 48th minute.
Jasek gave West High a 3-0 lead with a goal in the 54th minute and Migambi capped the scoring with a goal in the 63rd minute.
The loss snapped a five-game winning streak for Cedar Rapids Washington and dropped the Warriors to 5-2 on the season.
Steve Leads City High Past CR Jefferson
Ben Steve scored a pair of goals to lift Class 3A second-ranked City High to a 3-0 win over Cedar Rapids Jefferson on Tuesday in a Mississippi Valley Conference match in Iowa City.
Adam Englebrecht added a goal for City High as the Little Hawks improved to 4-1 on the season and 2-1 in MVC play.
Clear Creek Amana Wins Third Consecutive Overtime Game
Another match, another overtime win for Clear Creek Amana.
Rahabot Habte scored the games’ only goal off a Trevor King cross in the 85th minute to lift Clear Creek Amana to a 1-0 win over Center Point-Urbana in a WAMAC match in Tiffin.
Clear Creek Amana improved to 3-2 on the season with its third consecutive overtime victory while Center Point-Urbana dropped to 3-1.
