Brandon Barker posted an individual runner-up finish to help Clear Creek Amana place second in the team standings at the Jim Hetrick Invitational on Thursday at Grace Lutheran Church Camp in DeWitt.

Behind the runner-up finish from Barker and a sixth-place performance from junior Gavin Zillyette Class 3A No. 12 Clear Creek Amana finished one point behind No. 14 Monticello for the team title.

Monticello won with 68 points followed by Clear Creek Amana with 69 while North Scott was third with 83 and Muscatine was fourth with 94.

Barker finished second behind Calamus-Wheatland senior Chase Knoche who won the individual title in 16:32.31.

Barker finished in 16:40.45 while Zillyette was sixth in 17:03.31.

Sophomore Haidyn Barker was runner-up in the girls race to help the Clippers to a fifth-place team finish.

Barker finished in 19:52.69 and was less than two seconds off the pace of individual champion Laney Fitzpatrick from Davenport Assumption.

Class 3A sixth-ranked Davenport Assumption won the team title with 57 points followed by North Scott with 88 and Monticello with 93.

Clear Creek Amana was fifth with 132 as senior Kayla Jiras added a 16^th place finish in a time of 21:13.45.
