Boys Cross Country Roundup: West High’s McKane Wins Individual Title at Spartan Invite

Alex McKane won the individual title to help West High to a third-place team finish at the Pleasant Valley Spartan Invitational on Saturday morning at Crow Creek Park in Bettendorf.
McKane finished four seconds in front of Johnson senior Yohana Yual to win the individual crown in a time of 16:25.
It was the first title of the season for McKane who finished second to Cedar Rapids Prairie’s Andrew Bickford at the Hawks’ home invite last Saturday.
McKane got the best of Bickford on Saturday as the Prairie senior placed third in 16:33.
Behind the individual title from McKane Class 4A eighth-ranked West High placed third in the team standings with 85 points.
Fifth-ranked Cedar Rapids Prairie won the team title with 56 points, six in front of 4A No. 6 Johnston.
Class 3A No. 13 City High put a pair of runners in the top 10 and finished fourth with 93 points.
Sophomore Ford Washburn was fourth for City High in a time of 16:35 while classmate Truman Thompson placed 10th in 17:10.
