The high school baseball season was a slightly shorter and a little different this season due to the global coronavirus pandemic.

That didn’t prevent area players from performing at a high level.

Seven Your Prep Sports players earned all-state honors for their performance this season when the Iowa High School Baseball Coaches Association released its 2020 postseason honors on Monday.

Liberty High had a pair of players earn all-state honors in Class 4A as senior outfield Nolan Frey was a second-team selection and senior second baseman Tyler Dahm was named to the third team.

Frey hit a career-best .434 with four extra-base hits, scored 13 runs and led Liberty High with 17 RBI.

Dahm hit .362 with eight-extra base hits and 10 RBI in 47 at bats and ranked second on the team with 14 runs scored.

West High junior pitcher Marcus Morgan was a second-team pick in Class 4A after posting a

1-2 record with a 3.18 ERA in 22 innings.

Morgan allowed 15 hits while striking out 34.

City High sophomore Gable Mitchell was a third-team utility selection in 4A after leading the Little Hawks to the state tournament for the first time since 2003.

Mitchell led City High with a .439 batting average, 16 RBI and 11 stolen bases and three triples and also homered this season for the Little Hawks.

Clear Creek Amana had two players earn all-state honors in Class 3A after qualifying for the state tournament for the first time in program history.

Senior outfielder Grant Jensen was a second-team pick after leading the Clippers with a .473 batting average and nine extra-base hits.

Jensen ranked second on the team with 27 runs scored and 20 RBI.

Sophomore second baseman Parker Smith was a third team selection in 3A after hitting .435 with 28 runs scored and 14 RBI.

Smith also led Clear Creek Amana with a .611 on-base percentage.

Regina sophomore Chase Becker was a second-team pick as a second baseman in Class 2A.

Becker hit .385 with five extra-base hits including two runs and drove in 13 runs and also went 2-0 with a 1.37 ERA and 22 strikeouts in 15 1/3 innings.
