Boys Basketball Roundup: Liberty High Upsets No. 5 Dubuque Senior

Liberty High rallied from a four-point deficit in the final four minutes to stun Class 4A fifth-ranked Dubuque Senior in a Mississippi Valley Conference upset on Thursday in North Liberty.
Andre Brandon had 12 points and six rebounds as Liberty High snapped a 13-game winning streak for Dubuque Senior.
The win was the second in three games for Liberty High and improved the Lightning to 8-12 on the season while Senior dropped to 14-3 with its first loss since December 11.
Isaac Bender had 11 points and two steals and Ethan O’Donnell added nine points for Liberty High.
Landon Hermsen had 12 points to pace senior which was held to a season-low 43 points in the loss.

Clear Creek Amana Handles Independence
Clear Creek Amana used a strong third quarter to pull away for a 63-56 win over Independence on Thursday in Independence.
The Clippers outscored Independence 15-7 in the third quarter to overcome a two-point halftime deficit while improving to 11-7 on the season.
Nick O’Connor had 16 points and Tyler Schrepfer had 14 to lead Clear Creek Amana while Christian Withrow had 10 points and TJ Bollers added nine points and nine rebounds.
Sean Geertsema had 22 points for Independence which dropped to 3-17 with the loss.
