Solon Senior Hoffman Commits to Minnesota State Mankato

The scheduled start to the 2020 prep football season is still a few weeks away.
Solon senior Colton Hoffman wasn’t going to wait around to settle on his plans to play after high school.
Hoffman announced his verbal commitment to continue his football career at Division II powerhouse Minnesota State Mankato with a post on social media on Monday.
“I’d like to thank all of my coaches and teammates for always pushing me and helping me to become the best version of myself,” Hoffman wrote on Twitter. “With that said, I am extremely blessed and excited to announce my verbal commitment to play football at Minnesota State University Mankato.”
A 6-foot-2, 210-pound linebacker and receiver Hoffman was a two-way starter for Solon last season helping the Spartans to a 13-1 record and a Class 3A runner-up finish.
Hoffman had 10.5 tackles, including six solo stops and a sack and also picked off a pass as an outside linebacker.
On offense Hoffman caught eight passes for 54 yards last season.
A member of the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference, Minnesota State Mankato has established itself as one of the premier programs in all of Division II.
The Mavericks went14-1 last season falling to West Florida 48-40 in the NCAA Division II title game.
Minnesota State Mankato is 40-3 over the past three seasons advancing to the Division II semifinals each of those seasons.
