Solon closed the regular season with a bang on Monday slugging its way to a sweep of Washington in a non-conference doubleheader in Washington.

The Spartans hammered 33 hits while scoring 34 runs in the sweep on Monday taking the opener 20-7 and winning the nightcap 14-9.

Solon improved to 19-13 on the season and will open postseason play on Wednesday by hosting West Marshall in a Class 3A, Region 5 quarterfinal at 7 p.m.

Washington dropped to 8-17 on the season.

Solon scored runs in 11 of 14 innings on Monday and scored three or more runs in an inning six times.

Nine Spartans had a hit in the opener as Solon finished with 18 hits in the win.

Hilary Wilson led the offensive outburst going 4-for-6 with five RBI and a run scored while Carly Ellison and Peyton Sands each had three hits.

Sands drove in two runs and scored three times and Camryn Keith went 2-for-4 with two RBI and two runs scored.

Ava Stebral and Sarah Heick each doubled and drove in two runs and Jadyn Jeter had a hit and drove in four runs for the Spartans.

Carly Ellison earned the win in game one allowing seven runs, two earned, on six hits in five innings.

Washington erased a 6-0 Solon lead in the nightcap with a seven-run fifth inning but the Spartans answered by scoring eight runs in the top of the sixth.

Stebral went 4-of-5 with a run scored and an RBI to lead the way while Keith, Sands and Jeter all had two hits.

Keith doubled and drove in four runs while Sands went 2-for-3 with an RBI and scored three runs.

Jeter scored two runs, Wilson doubled and drove in two runs and Monet Barnouse, tripled drove in two runs and scored twice.

Heick and Kayla West had a hit and drove in a run and Jada Buffington had a hit and drove in two.

Kayla West earned the win allowing two runs, one earned, on one hits while striking out three in 2 1/3 innings of relief.
