Baseball Roundup: Solon Splits WAMAC Doubleheader With Mount Vernon

Solon split a WAMAC East Division doubleheader with Highway 1 rival Mount Vernon on Friday at the Ash Park Field in Mount Vernon.
The Spartans won the opener 14-4 and Mount Vernon salvaged a split with an 8-1 win in the nightcap.
Solon moved to 13-5 on the season while Mount Vernon went to 10-9.
Carson Shive and Cole Arduser each had three hits as Solon hammered 14 hits in the opener.
Arduser and Shive each went 3-for-4 and drove in three runs while Jackson Ryan went 2-for-4 with a triple, scored twice and drove in a run.
Nine different Spartans had hits in the game one win as Blake Timmons and Kinnick Pusteoska each had a hit and scored two runs and Brett White had a hit and scored three times.
Brady Jeworrek and Cade Chapman each had hits and drove in two runs.
Jacob Smith earned the win for Solon allowing four runs, three earned, on five hits while striking out two and walking three in six innings.
Mount Vernon took advantage of nine walks by Solon pitching and a pair of Spartan errors to score eight runs on just four this in the nightcap.
Pusteoska had a pair of doubles for Solon while Cael O’Neil added a double and White had a hit and drove in a run in game two.
