Williamsburg used a pair of late rallies to secure a doubleheader sweep of Solon on Friday in a WAMAC cross-divisional doubleheader in Solon.

The Class 3A fourth-ranked Raiders snapped a scoreless tie with five runs in the top of the ninth to take the opener 5-0 and scored five unanswered runs in the nightcap, including three in the seventh inning, to secure a 5-3 victory to complete the sweep.

Williamsburg stretched its winning streak to seven and improved to 20-4 on the season with the sweep while Solon dropped to 16-13.

In the opener Jenna Thurm snapped a scoreless tie with a two-run home run in the ninth inning and the Raiders tacked on three more runs in a 5-0 win.

The late rally spoiled a stellar outing from Carly Ellison who threw eight shutout innings and finished allowing five runs on 10 hits while striking out three and walking five.

Williamsburg freshman Peyton Driscoll limited the Spartans to just two hits in game one, singles by Sarah Heick and Kayla West.

Driscoll struck out nine and walked two in the two-hit complete game shutout.

Solon took an early lead in the nightcap when Peyton Sands doubled in the third inning and scored on a Camryn Keith RBI groundout.

Hilary Wilson made it 2-0 with an RBI single in the third and the Spartans tacked on a run in the fourth on a Monet Barnhouse triple and an RBI double by Jadyn Jeter.

Williamsburg took its first lead of the game in the seventh on a three-run homer by Jill Holub.

Kayla West took the loss for Solon allowing five runs on nine hits while striking out three in seven innings.

Barnhouse went 2-for-3 with a triple and a run scored to lead Solon while Jeter and Wilson each drove in runs.
