Girls Basketball Roundup: West High Pulls Away Late For Win at CR Xavier

A break in the winter weather Monday allowed West High to squeeze in its Mississippi Valley Conference game with Cedar Rapids Xavier that was postponed by snow on Friday.
The Women of Troy made the most of the make up game.
Class 5A No. 12 West High broke a 49-all tie entering the fourth quarter and held on for a 70-65 win over 4A No. 12 Cedar Rapids Xavier in Cedar Rapids.
Lauren Zacharias and Cailyn Morgan each scored 17 points to lead four West High players in double figures as the Women of Troy improved to 10-3 on the season.
Matayia Tellis had 15 points, Audrey Koch had 10 and Emma Ingersoll-Weng had eight for West High.
Libby Arnold had a game-high 18 points and Emily Jasper added 16 for Xavier which dropped to 9-6 with the loss.

Regina Snaps Four-Game Skid
Regina snapped a four-game losing skid with a 61-34 win over North Cedar in a River Valley Conference makeup game.
Sam Greving led four players in double figures with 17 points as Regina improved to 6-9 on the season and 6-8 in RVC play.
Kennedy Wallace added 16 points, Annie Gahan had 15 points and Elly Gahan had 13 points for Regina.
North Cedar dropped to 0-15 on the season.

Tipton Ends West Branch Winning Streak
West Branch had its seven-game winning streak come to an end on Monday with a 49-47 loss to Tipton in West Branch.
Class 2A No. 13 West Branch let a 10-point halftime lead slip away while dropping to 13-3 on the season and 11-3 in River Valley Conference South Division play with its first loss since December 14.
Ryan Druecker led West Branch with 16 points and added four rebounds and three steals while Sasha Koenig had 14 points, four assists and three steals.
Taylor Thein added five points, four steals and two rebounds for West Branch.
Tipton improved to 7-7 and 6-7 in RVC play with the win.
