Girls Basketball Roundup: Joens, Nkumu Help City High Stay Unbeaten With Rout of Linn-Mar

Aubrey Joens and Rose Nkumu combined for 49 points as Class 5A top-ranked City High remained undefeated with a 77-40 win over Linn-Mar on Tuesday in Marion.
City High moved to 12-0 on the season and 8-0 in Mississippi Valley Conference action while Linn-Mar dropped to 6-8 and 4-3 in MVC play.
Joens poured in a game-high 27 points while Nkumu added 22 to pace City High which led 32-14 at halftime.
Ella Cook had 12 points and Paige Rocca added seven for the Little Hawks.
Macey Miller had eight points for Linn-Mar.

Koch Helps West High Roll Past Waterloo East
West High raced to a 22-3 first-quarter lead and cruised to a 79-32 win over Waterloo East in a Mississippi Valley Conference cross-divisional contest on Tuesday in Waterloo.
Audrey Koch poured in a career-high 31 points and Lauren Zacharias added 17 as Class 5A No. 11 West High bounced back from a loss to Cedar Falls on Friday.
West High improved to 9-3 on the season and 5-2 in MVC play while Waterloo East dropped to 2-9 and 1-6 in conference contests.
Matayia Tellis had 10 points and Cailyn Morgan added seven for West High.
Kerris Roberts had 12 points to lead Waterloo East.
