Boys Basketball Roundup: Solon Bounces Back With Win at Central DeWitt

Solon didn’t waste any time getting back on track following a loss top-ranked Maquoketa.
AJ Coons scored 22 points and David Bluder added 21 as Solon downed Central DeWitt 71-62 in a WAMAC East Division matchup in DeWitt.
Clay Gerdin added eight points and Cam Miller and Carson Shive each had seven as Solon improved to 5-6 on the season and 3-3 in WAMAC East Division play.
Central DeWitt dropped to 6-6 on the season and 2-5 in WAMAC East play with the loss.
Sixth-ranked Cedar Falls Escapes Against Liberty High
Liberty High had Class 4A sixth-ranked Cedar Falls on the ropes on Tuesday but the Tigers showed why they are the defending state champions.
Cedar Falls outscored Liberty High 34-24 in the second half and escaped with a 58-50 win over the Lightning in a Mississippi Valley Conference cross-divisional matchup in North Liberty.
Ethan O’Donnell had 13 points and Andre Brandon added 10 for Liberty High which dropped to 5-7 on the season and 3-6 in MVC play.
Isaac Bender had eight points and Ira Hazeltine and Ben Houselog each had six for the Lightning.
Mason Abbas had a game-high 19 to lead Cedar Falls while Josh Ollendieck and Logan Wolf each had 16 points as the Tigers improved to 9-2 and 7-2 in MVC play.
