Cross Country Roundup: Clippers Perfect at Home Invite

Clear Creek Amana has had quite a few program firsts under head coach Ben Robison but the Clippers had never been perfect.
That changed on Monday.
Class 3A second-ranked Clear Creek Amana logged a perfect team score on its way to winning its own Clipper Cross Country Classic at Kickers Soccer Park in Iowa City.
Clear Creek Amana had the top five finishers to post a perfect team of 15 while finishing 49 points in front of runner-up Mid-Prairie.
The Clippers actually had each of the top six finishers and had eight runners finish in the top 10 while winning their fourth consecutive team title.
Jack Sexton continued his strong junior season by winning the team title in a time of 17:37.65 as the top five Clear Creek Amana finishers were separated by less than 14 seconds.
Nick O’Connor finished runner-up in 17:44.01 while Brandon Barker was third in 17:45.23 and Cole Liebe was fourth in 17:47.19.
Caleb Alcorn rounded out the scoring for Clear Creek Amana with a fifth-place finish in 17:51.48 as the Clippers had the only runners to break 18 minutes.
Freshman Gavin Zillyette placed sixth in 18:19.81.

Clear Creek Amana Girls Third at Home Invite
The Clear Creek Amana girls cross country team placed third at their own Clipper Cross Country Classic on Monday at Kickers Soccer Park in Iowa City.
Mid-Prairie won the team title with 25 points while Vinton-Shellsburg was second with 72 points and Clear Creek Amana was third with 76 points, 14 in front of fourth-place South Tama.
Kaylie Barker placed eighth in a time of 22:14.35 to lead Clear Creek Amana while Madeline Fox was 12th in 23:47.57.
Mid-Prairie junior Marie Hostetler won the individual title in 18:50.72 while Kay Fett of Vinton-Shellsburg was second in 21:07.56.
