Ellie Evans had 14 kills and added 15 digs as City High downed Dubuque Senior 25-12, 25-19, 23-25, 25-11 in a Mississippi Valley Conference Mississippi Division contest in Iowa City.

City High improved to 6-4 on the season and 2-2 in MVC play with the win while Dubuque Senior dropped to 6-8 and 1-3 in conference contests.

Mackenzie Murphy had 11 kills and three ace serves and Kelsey Law had 15 kills and nine digs for the Little Hawks.

Lindsey Bolton had 24 assists and Makayla Ribble added 22 assists.

West High Rally Comes up Short

Class 5A No. 15 West High rallied from a two sets to none deficit but it wasn’t enough in a 25-20, 25-12, 21-25, 17-25, 15-12 loss to Dubuque Hempstead in a Mississippi Valley Conference Valley Division showdown on Tuesday in Iowa City.

West High dropped to 4-12 with the loss and 1-3 in MVC play while Dubuque Hempstead improved to 4-9 and 2-2 in MVC matches.

Cailyn Morgan had 13 kills and 15 digs to lead West High while Rylee Fay had 22 assists, seven kills, 17 digs, four blocks and two assists.

Haley Gallagher had eight kills and 21 digs for West High while freshman Katherine Kouba added 16 digs.

Emily Cray had six kills and four blocks for the Women of Troy.

Independence Downs CCA in Battle of Ranked Teams

Class 4A fifth-ranked Independence defeated 4A No. 12 Clear Creek Amana 25-18, 25-13, 20-15, 26-24 in a WAMAC West Division matchup on Tuesday in Independence.

Independence improved to 8-2 and 3-0 in WAMAC West play while Clear Creek Amana dropped to 9-6 and 2-1 in WAMAC West action.

Shauntina Williams and Calia Clubb each had nine kills to lead Clear Creek Amana while Hailey Pollock added seven kills.

Cheyaenne Bunch had 25 assists for Clear Creek Amana.
