West High pushed its winning streak to four with a 7-3 win over Benton Community on Thursday in a non-conference contest in Iowa City.
Class 4A ninth-ranked West High improved to 24-9 with the win while Benton Community had a four-game winning streak snapped with the loss and dropped to 14-19 on the season.
Chase Calderwood was 2-for-3 with a double, a triple and two RBI as five of the Trojans’ nine hits went for extra-bases.
Austin Curtiss went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBI and Ben Madden had a hit and drove in two runs for West High.
Ryan Cooper doubled and scored a run, Jason Strunk had a hit, scored a run and drove in a run and Lucas Karwal had a triple to lead West High.

Regina Closes Regular Season With Win over Mount Vernon
Regina will enter the postseason riding a winning streak, the Regals made sure of that on Thursday.
Class 2A third-ranked Regina closed the regular season with an 11-1 six-inning win over Mount Vernon on Thursday in a non-conference contest in Iowa City.
Regina improved to 24-7 with the win and will take a seven-game winning streak into the postseason.
Mount Vernon dropped to 14-15 with its fourth consecutive loss.
Jayden Kies went 4-for-4 and drove in three runs and Trent Hoogerwerf was 3-for-4 with an RBI as Regina pounded out 18 hits in the win.
Hunter Liebermann, Nick Brandt and Masen Miller all had two hits and scored two runs for the Regals while Jake Phillips, Ryne Schooley, Mitch Gahan and Evan Suchomel had a hit and scored a run.
Schott earned the win for Regina allowing one unearned run on three hits while striking out one and walking two in four innings.

Clear Creek Amana fell to BGM 7-5 on Thursday in a non-conference contest in Brooklyn.
The Clippers dropped to 16-16 with the loss while BGM snapped a four-game losing skid with the win while improving to 9-14 on the season.
Tyler Schrepfer took the loss for Clear Creek Amana allowing six unearned runs on eight hits in five innings.

Solon shook off a loss to sixth-ranked Cedar Rapids Xavier on Tuesday with a 7-3 win over Ottumwa in a non-conference contest on Thursday in Ottumwa.
Luke Ira homered, tripled and drove in five runs as Solon improved to 26-9 on the season.
Cam Miller picked up the win allowing three runs on five hits while striking out eight in 6 2/3 innings.
Kendrick Harris, Zach Wegmann and Miller all had two hits and scored twice for Solon as the Spartans hammered out 13 hits.
