Clear Creek Amana slugged a pair of home runs in each game but it wasn’t enough as the Clippers were swept by West Delaware in a WAMAC doubleheader in Manchester.

West Delaware scored four unanswered runs in a 9-5 win in the opener and scored three runs in the bottom of the eighth to rally for a 9-8 win in the nightcap to improve to 2-1 on the season and 2-0 in WAMAC play.

Clear Creek Amana dropped to 2-2 on the season and 0-2 in conference action.

Cody Ogden and Camden Armstrong hit back-to-back home runs in the third inning of the opener to tie the game at 5-5.

West Delaware answered with a run in the bottom of the inning and broke the game open with three runs in the fifth.

Ogden went 2-for-4 with an RBI while Armstrong finished 1-for-4 and drove in three runs in the opener.

TJ Bollers, David Jensen and Casey Ogden all had a hit and scored a run in game one.

Camden Smyka took the loss in the opener allowing six runs, three earned, on five hits in four innings.

Cody Ogden hit his second home run of the day in a three-run first inning in the opener and eighth-grader Ben Swails homered as part of a four-run fourth but it wasn’t enough as the Hawks scored three runs in the eighth inning to rally for the win.

Ogden finished 3-for-5 with a pair of doubles, a home run and four RBI in the nightcap while Armstrong scored three runs.

David Jensen allowed four runs, one earned, on three hits in four innings and Swails took the loss allowing five runs on five hits in 2 1/3 innings of relief.

City High Gets Back on Track

City High bounced back from a loss to Regina on Tuesday with a 7-3 win over Clinton in a non-conference contest at Mercer Park in Iowa City.

Kyle Clark worked six strong innings to earn his first career win as City High improved to 2-2 on the season.

Clark allowed two unearned runs on hit hits while striking out seven in six innings.

Travis Reyhons and Jacob Dykes each had two hits to lead City High.

Reyhons had a double, a triple scored twice and drove in three runs while Dykes had an RBI.

Sam Lewrs had a double and scored a run and DJ Heck had a hit, drew two walks and scored twice.

West Branch Splits With Durant

West Branch picked up its first win of the season on Thursday splitting a River Valley Conference South Division doubleheader in Durant.

West Branch won the opener 8-6 and Durant took the nightcap 5-3.

Tanner Lukavsky earned the win for West Branch in game one and Trey Eagle picked up the save.

Lukavsky had five hits in the doubleheader while Eagle and four hits including three doubles.

Brad Hunger had three hits on the night as West Branch moved to 1-3 on the season and 1-3 in RVC games.
