Golf Roundup: Liberty High’s Maurus Earns Medalist Honors at Mid-Prairie Invite

Liberty High freshman Neely Maurus fired an 83 to earn medalist honors at the Mid-Prairie Hawk Invite on Thursday at the Kalona Country Club.
Maurus finished six strokes in front of Mid-Prairie’s Paige Slabaugh for the individual title and helped Liberty High to a fourth-place team finish with a 424.
Williamsburg won the team title with a 396 in a tie-breaker over host Mid-Prairie.
West Branch was fifth with a 426 and Regina was eighth with a 452.
Aleah Rocha shot a 101 to lead West Branch while Ellie VanLandschoot fired a 104 to pace Regina.

Brady Lukavsky shot a 40 to tie for medalist honors but Wilton edged West Branch by two strokes in a River Valley Conference dual meet on Thursday at Cedars Edge Golf Course in West Branch.
Nolan Leaton matched Lukavsky with a 40 as Wilton finished with a 173.
Ted Bridges shot a 42 and Trevor Thein fired a 45 for West Branch.
