Some spring snow pushed back the start of the season for area golfers.

Despite what courses look liked after having close to a foot of snow dumped on them last weekend spring and golf season are here.  

Here are five area golfers to keep an eye on as the temperature warms and the snow melts.

All golfers are shooting for the same thing, a trip to the state golf meet on May 29-30. 

Ellie Kouba

Junior, West High

Kouba is ready to step into the number one spot in the West High lineup after spending last season learning from four-time state qualifier Jordan Amelon.

In her first year of varsity competition Kouba ranked second on the team in nine-hole average at 51.7 and shot a 103 at the MVC Super meet.

Reegan Helle

Junior, Solon

An injury derailed her sophomore season but Helle is eager to return to the form from her freshman season when she advanced to the regional final.

Helle was second on the team with a 52.8 nine-hole average two seasons ago as a freshman, earning all-conference honors and advancing to the regional final.

She slipped to a 55.5 average last season during a season shortened to five outing but is prepped for a breakthrough spring.

Ellie VanLandschoot

Junior, Regina

Already a two-year varsity regular, VanLandschoot has developed into an important team leader for a young Regina squad

VanLandschoot earned all-conference honors last season as a sophomore and ranked second on the team in nine-hole average.

Aleah Rocha

Senior, West Branch

A fixture in the West Branch line for four seasons Aleah Rocha will look to continue shaving strokes off her game this spring.

Rocha has improved her nine-hole average each of the previous two seasons going from a 61 as a freshman to a 56 her sophomore season before posting a team-best 54.3 average a year ago.

Kaylee Paulsen

Junior, City High

The player with the top nine-hole average among returners, Paulsen will look to elevate her game this spring.

Paulsen ranked third on the team with 59.7 nine-hole average a year ago as a sophomore.
