For the time second year in a row the Your Prep Sports wrestling team honors the top wrestlers in the area for their performances on the mat this season.
The team features three state champions including a three-time champ and eight state medalists. West High senior Nelson Brands is the captain of the team for the second year in a row.
Brands went 55-1 on his way to winning his third consecutive state title.
The Iowa recruit won the Class 3A 160-pound earlier this month to join four-time champion Nick Moore as the only wrestlers in West High history to win three titles.
Brands became the ninth four-time Mississippi Valley Conference champ last month and is the only wrestler to win outstanding wrestler honors at the MVC meet four times.
On his way to his third straight state title Brands won a 9-5 quarterfinal decision over second-ranked Zane Mulder and had a second-period fall of No. 7 Levi Egli of Fort Dodge in the semifinals.
Brands earned a 22-7 tech fall over fourth-ranked Wilfred Kadohou of City High in the 160-pound championship match.
