City High went 0-3 in its first trip to the state dual meet since 2006 dropping a trio of duals to top-10 opponents on Wednesday.

Sixth-ranked City High (25-5) dropped duals to Waukee, North Scott and Dubuque Hempstead to finish eighth at the Class 3A state dual meet at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines.

The Little Hawks took an early 9-0 lead in its quarterfinal dual against third-ranked Waukee courtesy of a 6-4 decision by Kyle Hefley over Mason Seifried at 152 pounds and a pin from fourth-ranked senior Wilfred Kadohou at 160.

Waukee won the next three matches but City High trailed just 16-15 after second-ranked 195-pounder Jacob Dykes pinned Jake Morrison in 1:28 at 220 pounds.

It was all Waukee from that point on as the Warriors won the next five matches to pull away.

City High and North Scott split 14 matches in a consolation semifinal but the Lancers had six pins to five for City High to pull out a 39-36 win.

Kadohou, Dykes, Joey Harney, Ethan Wood-Finley and Joe Ring all had pins for City High in the loss to seventh-ranked North Scott.

No. 8 Dubuque Hempstead defeated City High 58-14 in the final dual that featured multiple reserves in the lineup for both teams.

Harney and Kadohou both went 2-0 with a pair of pins for City High on Wednesday.
