Your Prep Sports
Over the last three seasons Ryan Schott and Nick Milder have done pretty much everything together.
The duo has trained together, worked out together and even spent the fall playing linebacker alongside one other on the Regina football team.
Schott and Milder were back at it again on Saturday winning River Valley Conference titles together as teammates one final time.
The Regina duo added to their career RVC title count on Saturday as Milder and Schott both successfully defended their conference titles from a season ago at the RVC Meet at Mid-Prairie High School in Wellman.
Schott won the 160-pound title for the second consecutive season and Milder followed with a title at 170 for his third straight RVC title.
The titles by Schott and Milder lifted Regina to a seventh-place team finish with 77 points.
Class 2A third-ranked West Liberty cruised to the team title, winning seven titles and racking up 286.5 points to outdistancing runner-up Wilton by 100.
West Branch had three top-four finishers and place 11th with 58.5 points.
Ranked third in Class 1A, Schott (41-1) was dominant on his way to the 160-pound title.
He won matches by tech fall and major decision before an 11-1 major decision over Austin Beaver of West Liberty in the title match.
Seventh-ranked Milder was equally impressive.
Milder (24-2) earned a 16-1 tech fall of Coy Baker of Wilton in the semifinals and claimed his third straight RVC with a second-period pin of West Liberty junior A.J. Lenz.
Seniors Jacob Barnhart and Jacob Graves each finished third for West Branch while junior Tyler Siemen was fourth at 106 pounds.
Barnhart (18-14) pinned Durant’s Mason Bird in the 285-pound third place match while Graves won a 4-3 decision over Carsen Mangelsen of Northeast to place third at 145 pounds.
