Regina (5-0) at Class 2A No. 8 Cascade (8-0)
Early leaders from the River Valley Conference’s north and south divisions meet in a pre-holiday battle cross-divisional battle of unbeatens.
Regina has been impressive while bolting to the top of the south division standings opening the season with five consecutive wins of 16 points or more.
A state tournament team each of the past four seasons, Cascade is off to another strong start already collecting wins over north division contenders Camanche and Monticello.
Cascade is among the most balanced teams in Class 2A with four players averaging in double figures led by 6-foot-1 junior Haris Hoffman with 12.4 per game.

4A No. 9 Cedar Rapids Prairie at 4A No. 1 West High: Prairie buried 15 3-pointers on its way to an 80-71 win over West High in a pre-holiday matchup last year. This season the Trojans are 5-0 and holding opponents to 53.6 points per game entering Tuesday’s meetings with the Hawks.
West Delaware at Solon: A key an early matchup in a crowded WAMAC East Division comes on Tuesday in the final conference contest of the year for both teams.
West Branch at Camanche: Two River Valley Conference teams that can light up the scoreboard meet on Monday in Camanche in what would be a big road win for the Bears.
Player to Watch
Tyrese Nickelson, Jr., Waterloo East
Among the top scorers in Class 4A over the past two seasons Nickelson has picked up where he left this year following a strong freshman season.
The 6-foot, guard is averaging 27.3 points per game through four games and has scored at least 20 points every game this season.
Nickelson averaged 24.8 points per game while playing in 10 games last season.

Seybian Sims, Sr., West High
Few players in the state had a better week than Sims last week.
The 6-foot-7 senior averaged 22 points, 9.5 rebounds, 3 assists and 3 blocks in a pair of West High wins last week.
Sims was 18-of-22 from the field in wins over City High and Bollingbrook, Illinois as top-ranked West High improved to 5-0 on the season.
