Girls Basketball Roundup: City High, West High Earn MVC Wins

In its first game as the No. 1 team in Class 5A City High proved worthy of the ranking on Friday against Dubuque Senior.
Ashley Joens scored a game-high 27 points to lead three players in double figures as top-ranked City High rolled to a 79-31 win over Dubuque Senior in a Mississippi Valley Conference Valley Division game in Iowa City.
Playing for the first time since taking over the top spot in the 5A rankings City High bolted to a 46-17 halftime lead while improving to 6-0 on the season.
Rose Nkumu had 15 points and Paige Rocca added 11 as eight City High players scored in the win.
Alli Udelhofen had 13 points for Dubuque Senior which dropped to 3-5 on the season and 1-5 in MVC play.

West High Bounces Back at Waterloo East
West High returned to the win column on Friday, snapping a two-game losing skid with a 69-36 win at Waterloo East.
Freshman Audrey Koch led five players in double figures with 13 points as West High improved to 5-2 on the season.
West High outscored the Trojans 42-18 in the second half, breaking open a nine-point game.
Emma Koch had 11 points and Cailyn Morgan, Matayia Tellis and Logan Cook all had 10 points for the Women of Troy.
Amanee Clark had a game-high 14 points to lead Waterloo East.
