One top-two matchup down for City High, one to go.

Class 5A third-ranked City High won the first of its consecutive matchups with top-two ranked teams, rallying for a 59-54 win over top-ranked Cedar Falls (3-1) in a Mississippi Valley Conference Valley Division contest in Cedar Falls.

City High (4-0) overcame a 31-23 halftime deficit to remain unbeaten on the season and will host second-ranked West High on Tuesday.

Ashley Joens scored a game-high 28 points to lead the Little Hawks as City High avenged a 48-46 loss to the Tigers in the 5A state quarterfinals last March.

Sophomore Paige Rocca added 10 points, Rose Nkumu had nine and Aubrey Joens added seven for the Little Hawks.

Emerson Green led three City High players in double figures with 18 points while Kiana Barney had 16 and Anaya Barney added 10.

Regina Rolls Past West Liberty

Class 2A sixth-ranked Regina jumped to a 15-5 lead less than three minutes into the game and cruised to an 80-28 win over West Liberty in a River Valley Conference South Division matchup in Iowa City on Friday.

Regina led 57-16 at halftime and had five players score in double figures while improving to 3-2 on the season and 3-1 in RVC play.

Kennedy Wallace had a game-high 19 points while Alex Wiese added 14 points and 10 rebounds.

Maeve Dunne had 14 points and Greyson Dumont and Anna martin each had 10 for the Regals.
