Solon went 2-4 at the Waverly-Shell Rock Tournament on Saturday closing with back-to-back wins over Mason City (25-18, 25-17) and Denver (25-16, 26-24).
The Spartans lost to a trio of top-10 teams in Class 3A No. 7 Osage (22-20, 21-18), 2A No. 3 Grundy Center (21-16, 21-13) and 4A No. 3 Waverly-Shell Rock (21-10, 21-16).
Solon also fell to Nevada (21-19, 21-9) and dropped to 9-14 on the season with the 2-4 performance.
Rachael Nelson led Solon with 25 kills and 53 assists on Saturday while freshman Lauren Schrock added 21 kills.
Grace Keith had 19 kills and four blocks while Abby Smith had 17 kills and seven blocks and Kate Benzing had 13 kills and seven blocks.
Taylor Moore had a team-high 45 digs for Solon.
Clear Creek Amana Goes 3-2 at Cedar Rapids Prairie
Clear Creek Amana went 3-2 at the 10th Starcevich Invitational Tournament at Cedar Rapids Prairie on Saturday.
The Clippers fell to Cedar Rapids Washington (21-14, 21-14) and host Cedar Rapids Prairie (21-18, 22-20) and defeated Mediapolis (21-17, 21-19), Muscatine (21-13, 21-10) and Benton Community (21-18, 19-21, 15-9).
Clear Creek Amana evened its season record at 14-14 with the 3-2 mark on Saturday and returns to action on Tuesday at Williamsburg.
