Softball Roundup: Regina Closes Regular Season With Sweep of West Branch

Regina and West Branch could meet in a 2A Region 4 quarterfinal next Wednesday.
The first two meetings between the two teams belonged to Regina.
Class 2A seventh-ranked Regina closed the regular season with a sweep of West Branch in a River Valley Conference South Division doubleheader in Iowa City.
Regina won the opener 7-5 and took the nightcap 15-7 to improve to 24-11 on the season and 15-2 in RVC play while West Branch dropped to 14-21 and finished 6-12 in conference play.
Katie Bracken picked up the win for Regina in game one, allowing five runs, four earned, on seven hits with 10 strikes in a complete game.
Bracken also went had a double, drove in two runs and scored a run for Regina.
Emma Corkery went 2-for-4 and scored two runs while Jess Hunter had a hit and scored two runs.
Nicki Henson led West Branch going 4-for-4 with a double and two runs while Chloe Pence had a hit and scored a run.
Regina hammered out 15 hits in the nightcap while completing the sweep.
Emily Bonnett and Corkery each went 3-for-5 and Corkery had an RBI and scored two runs for the Regals.
Taylor O’Conner, Lauren Marth and Bracken all had two hits while Jess Hunter drove in two runs.
Dalana Kron went 2-for-4 and scored a run and Henson had a hot and scored two runs for West Branch.
Lexie Peak had two hits and scored a run and Taylor Thein had a hit and scored a run.
