Clear Creek Amana put an emphatic end to a six-game losing skid with an impressive doubleheader sweep of Vinton-Shellsburg on Monday in Oxford.

The Clippers hammed 23 hits in the doubleheader, winning the opener 9-5 before taking the nightcap 9-3.

Clear Creek Amana improved to 7-13 while Vinton-Shellsburg dropped to 6-13.

Freshman Raina Henze picked up the win in the opener, allowing five runs, four earned, on seven hits while striking out six and walking two.

Clear Creek Amana provided Henze with plenty of support, scoring nine runs on 10 hits.

Anna Fox led the way going 3-for-4 with a double and two runs scored while Katie Pitlick was 2-for-3 with a double and three RBI.

Ainsley Schrock was 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBI and Claire Navara scored twice and drove in two runs.

Eighth grader Peyton Grafft earned the win in game two, allowing three runs on eight hits while striking out one in a complete game.

Abbi Kinnaird and Schrock each had three hits and drove in two runs to lead a 13-hit Clear Creek Amana performance.

Claire Navara had two hits and scored two runs while Pitlick drove in two runs and Fox scored twice.
