West Branch won its second straight game on Thursday defeating North Cedar 9-3 in a River Valley Conference cross-divisional matchup in West Branch.
With the win West Branch improved to 2-6 on the season and 2-4 in RVC play.
Freshman Taylor Thein continued her strong start to the season going 3-for-4 with a home run.
Maddie Hatfield drove in three runs with a bases clearing double while Courtney Jarrett went 2-for-3 with a triple and drove in two runs.
DaLana Kron and Chloe Pence each had two hits and drove in a run for the Bears.
Hannah Tisinger started and earned the win for West Branch with Kaiya Luneckas toss the final 2 2/3 innings.
Regina Stays Unbeaten
Class 2A sixth-ranked Regina remained unbeaten on the season with a 4-2 win over Camanche on Thursday in Iowa City.
Katie Bracken tossed a complete game five-hitter while striking out 11 as the Regals moved to 4-0.
Bracken also homered and scored twice for Regina while Sarah Lehman had two hits, drove in a run and scored a run.
