A pair of West Branch golfers earned an extra week of golf with their performance at the 2A sectional meet at Wahkonsa Golf Course outside of Wilton on Friday.  

Ted Bridges shot a three-over-par 75 to earn medalist honors and Trevor Thein carded an 88 as both advanced to the 2A district meet at Gates Park Golf Course in Waterloo on May 19.

Bridges had 11 pars and a pair of birdies during his round of 75 on Friday, finishing four strokes in front of the Wilton duo of Jake Fratzke and Nolan Leaton.

Host Wilton won the team title with a 325 while Durant was second with a 339 and North Cedar was third with a 344 as all three teams advanced to the district meet.

West Branch finished fourth with a 356 and Regina was fifth with a 361.

Regina freshman Mark Schomer shot an 88 to advance to the district meet next week.
