Golf Roundup: Amelon Ties for Individual Title at MVC Super Meet

West High senior Jordan Amelon shot a nine-over-par 79 to tie for the individual title at MVC Super Meet on Tuesday at St. Andrews Golf Club in Cedar Rapids.
Amelon and Maddie Hawkins of Dubuque Senior both finished with a 79 on Tuesday, two strokes in front of third place Abby Martin of Dubuque Senior.
Cedar Falls three golfers in the top ten and won the team title with a 352 while Dubuque Senior was second with a 356.
West High finished sixth with 392 while City High was 11th with a 435.
Lexi Shield shot a 101 to lead City High while Rose Sadewasser added a 106 for the Little Hawks.

The Clear Creek Amana girls golf team finished sixth at the WAMAC West divisional meet on Tuesday at Tara Hills Golf Club in Van Horne.
Allison Greathouse shot a 48 to finish in a tie for second place to help the Clippers card a 218.
Independence won the team title with a 192, 10 strokes in front of runner-up Vinton-Shellsburg.

Jack Stahle and Sterling McIlravy each shot a 40 to finish in the top 10 as Solon placed third at the WAMAC East Divisional meet on Tuesday at Pin Oak Golf Course in Manchester.
Stahle and McIlravy helped the Spartans shot a 165 on Tuesday, 10 strokes back of team champion West Delaware.
Drew Wolfe of Mount Vernon shot a one-under-par 35 to earn medalist honors.

The runner-up finish by McCarty helped Clear Creek Amana to a fourth-place finish with a 159.
Cory Siders shot a 43 for Clear Creek Amana and Jordan Smith added a 50.

West Branch had a pair of golfers finish in the top 10 on its way to a third-place team finish at the Golden Hawk Invitational on Tuesday at Kalona Golf Club.
Trevor Thein shot an 85 to finish fifth and Ted Bridges was seventh with an 86 as West Branch placed third with a 369.
Wilton won the team title with a 347 while Mid-Prairie was second with a 363.
Mark Schumer shot a 93 to lead Regina to a sixth-place finish with a 393.
