Boys Soccer Roundup: City High, Solon Pick Up Wins Saturday

The City High boys soccer team has picked up right where it left off last season.
Class 3A second-ranked City High opened the season with a pair of wins at the Muscatine tournament on Saturday.
The defending Class 3A runner-up, City High defeated host Muscatine 2-1 in its season opener and added a 1-0 win over West Des Moines Dowling.
In the season opener against Muscatine, the Little Hawks built a 2-0 lead on goals by Amani Sila and John Clark and held on for a 2-1 win.
Jackson Meyer and Hunter TeDuits had assists in the win.
Daniel Echa provided all the scoring in the win over West Des Moines Dowling with his first career goal.
Spartan Classic
Solon outscored three opponents by a total of 18-0 while winning the title at its own Spartan Classic on Saturday.
Class 1A No. 10 Solon defeated Monticello 5-0 and Mediapolis 8-0 in pool play to reach the title game where it defeated Bellevue Marquette 5-0.
Solon improved to 4-0 on the season with its 3-0 performance on Saturday and has outscore opponents 21-0.
