Clear Creek Amana senior Quinn Murphy kept his wrestling career going on Thursday.

Murphy went 1-1 at the opening day of the Class 2A state wrestling meet at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines.

Murphy will wrestle in the second round of consolation bracket on Friday afternoon in a session that begins at 2:30 p.m.

The senior 138-pounder was pinned by second-ranked Skyler Noftsger of Ballard in 56 seconds in his first round match.

Murphy (37-14) responded with a 15-0 tech fall of Mitch Van Beek of Central-Lyon/George-Little Rock in a first-round consolation match.
