4A No. 1 West High (16-2) at Cretin-Derham Hall (14-6)

For the second week in a row West High will test itself against a powerful out-of-state program when it travels to St. Paul to take on Minnesota power Cretin-Derham Hall.

West High had an 11-game winning streak end with a 76-68 loss to Webster Groves, Missouri on Saturday at the Best of the Midwest Showcase in Kansas.

The Trojans close the regular season on Saturday with their third game against an out-of-state foe.

Cretin-Derham hall entered the week 14-6 and has won 12 of its last 14 games.

The Raiders are led by 6-foot-8 Minnesota commit Daniel Oturu who verballed to the Gophers over offers from Kansas and others.

Oturu is averaging 19.2 points and 16.6 rebounds per game this season.

What to Watch

The postseason begins this week in Class 1A and 2A and West Branch and Regina both landed as the No. 2 seed in their respective districts to earn first-round byes.

Both teams will open 2A district play on Thursday.

West Branch brings a 10-game winning streak into the District 8 semifinals where it will host the Wapello and Wilton winner.

Regina awaits the winner of Central Lee and Columbus in the District 9 semifinals that will be played as the first game of a double header at Mid-Prairie.

Keep an Eye On

The longer the season goes the better City High freshman Keshawn Christian plays.

Christian has scored in double figures in five straight games and is coming off the best game of his career, a 22-point performance in a 72-67 win over Dubuque Wahlert.

The 6-foot-2 Christian is averaging 13.4 points and six rebounds over his last five games and is shooting 49 percent from the floor during that stretch.

Christian is averaging 8.1 points and 5.9 rebounds per game on the season and leads City High in blocks, rebounds and is second in steals.
