What a difference a month made for West Branch.
One month ago, West Branch was hovering around the .500 mark on the season and was an even 5-5 in River Valley Conference play.
On Tuesday, West Branch secured its first RVC title since the league’s formation in 2013.
West Branch overcame a 34-32 halftime deficit and clinch the RVC South Division title with a 68-56 win over Durant in its conference finale.
Cooper Kabela scored a game-high 28 points as West Branch improved to 15-5 on the season and 13-5 in RVC play with its ninth straight win.
Beau Cornwell added 24 points, six rebounds and six steals and Ted Bridges had 11 points for West Branch.
Tanner Lukavsky had five rebounds and six assists to help West Branch finished 11-1 against South division competition.
Durant dropped to 9-11 on the season and 7-20 on the season.
West Branch closes out the regular season on Thursday at home against Clear Creek Amana.

West High Winning Streak Hits Double Figures
The West High winning streak has hit double digits, the McCaffery brothers made sure of that on Tuesday.
Connor and Patrick McCaffery combined for 40 points as Class 4A top-ranked West High won its 10th straight game with a 70-63 win over Linn-Mar in a Mississippi Valley Conference Mississippi Division titlt in Iowa City.
Senior Connor McCaffery had a game-high 22-points while Patrick added 18 as West High improved to 15-1 on the season and 12-1 in MVC play.
Devontae Lane had 14 points for West High which capped a regular season sweep of Linn-Mar after defeating the Lions 80-59 in the first meeting in Marion.
City High Falls at Cedar Rapids Washington
Cedar Rapids Washington outscored City High 21-7 in the fourth quarter to escape with a 61-57 win over the Little Hawks in a Mississippi Valley Conference Valley Division contest in Cedar Rapids.
The win snapped a five-game losing skid for Cedar Rapids Washington (4-14, 2-11) and avenged a 69-50 loss to City High on January 10.
City High dropped to 3-15 on the season and 2-11 in MVC play with its fifth straight loss and hosts Dubuque Wahlert on Friday.
