Boys Basketball Roundup: West Branch Wins Sixth Straight

Every team wants to be playing their best at the end of the season. The longer the season goes the better West Branch seems to play.
West Branch won its sixth straight game on Friday, holding on for a 61-53 victory over North Cedar in a River Valley Conference cross-divisional contest in Stanwood.
The win improved West Branch to 12-5 on the season and 10-5 in RVC play, one game back of South Division leader Regina which travels to West Branch on Tuesday.
Cooper Kabela had 25 points to lead three West Branch players in double figures on Friday.
Ben Thompson had 15 points and Beau Cornwell added 14 points, six assists and three steals.
Ted Bridges had four points and four assists and Tanner Lukavsky grabbed nine rebounds for West Branch.
North Cedar had a two-game win streak end with the loss and dropped to 6-10 on the season and 6-9 in RVC games.

Clear Creek Amana Falls to South Tama
Clear Creek Amana hung around early but some hot shooting from South Tama and a 22-point Trojan second quarter proved to be too much for the Clippers to overcome in a 73-45 loss in Tiffin.
South Tama led 18-15 after one quarter but outscored Clear Creek Amana 22-8 in the second quarter on its way to its third straight win.
The Trojans shot 57 percent from the floor and got a game-high 19 points from junior Gabe Shields to improve to 10-6 on the season and 7-4 in WAMAC West Division games.
Cory Siders led Clear Creek Amana with 18 points as the Clippers dropped to 1-14 and 0-11 in WAMAC West play.
Tate Thomsen had eight points, Tyler Schrepfer had seven and Tyler Hallett had six for Clear Creek Amana.

City High Can’t Keep Up With Mustangs
Dubuque Hempstead ran its winning streak to seven straight with a 73-38 win over City High on Friday night in a Mississippi Valley Conference Valley Division contest in Dubuque.
City High dropped to 3-12 on the season and 2-8 in MVC play with the loss while Dubuque Hempstead improved to 11-3 and 7-3 in MVC games.
Northeast Nips Regina
Northeast held off Regina 53-50 on Friday in a River Valley Conference cross-divisional matchup in Iowa City.
Regina dropped to 10-6 and 9-4 in RVC games while Northeast improved to 14-2 and 12-2 in RVC play.
