Girls Basketball Roundup: Mullinnix Pours in 33 in Win Over Tipton

West Branch was in need of a boost to get out of the rut it found itself in after back-to-back conference losses last week.
It got that boost and then some from its leaders in the backcourt on Tuesday.
Guards Haley Mullinnix and Tatum Koenig combined for 60 points as West Branch put up a season-high point total in an 81-46 win over Tipton in a River Valley Conference matchup of Cedar County rivals in West Branch.
Mullinnix poured in a career-high 33 points, one shy of the single-game school record, as West Branch snapped its two-game losing skid.
The senior guard added five rebounds and four assists as West Branch improved to 9-6 on the season and 7-6 in RVC play.
Tipton dropped to 3-10 on the season and 2-10 in RVC play.
Koenig had 27 points, five rebounds and four assists while freshman Mackenzie Heise had six points and six rebounds.
West High Rolls at No. 15 Bettendorf
In a meeting of two of the hottest teams in eastern Iowa it was West High that continued its winning ways on Tuesday.
Rachael Saunders had a game-high 22 points as Class 5A third-ranked West High ran its winning streak to seven with a 69-45 win over No. 15 Bettendorf in a non-conference contest in Bettendorf.
Emma Koch had 15 points for West High (12-1) while Bettendorf (10-3) had a five-game winning streak snapped with the loss.
West High led 18-12 after one quarter and opened the second quarter with 11 unanswered points to take build a 17-point lead. The Women of Troy led 42-21 at halftime.
Logan Cook and Cailyn Morgan each had nine points for West High while Katie McGrane added six.
