Losses don’t come much tougher than the one that Clear Creek Amana endured on Friday.
Alex Whalen hit a game-winning 3-pointer as time expired in overtime to lift Marion to a 50-47 win over Clear Creek Amana in a WAMAC West Division contest in Tiffin.
Tate Thomsen sent the game to overtime with a late 3-pointer at the end of regulation but Marion responded with Whalen’s game winner in overtime to improve to 8-4 on the season.
The loss was the eighth straight for Clear Creek Amana which dropped to 1-10 on the season.
Tyler Schrepfer led the Clippers with 14 points while Thomsen added 11 and Cory Siders had seven.
Tyler Hallett and Drake Mougin each had six points for Clear Creek Amana.

City High Falls to 3A No. 10 Xavier
City High couldn’t win back-to-back games for the first time this season falling to Class 3A No. 10 Cedar Rapids Xavier 57-41 in a Mississippi Valley Conference game in Cedar Rapids.
The Little Hawks dropped to 2-10 on the season and 1-6 in MVC play while Xavier snapped a four-game losing skid and improved to 3-6 on the season and 2-4 in MVC action.
West Branch Wins Second Straight
West Branch defeated Mid-Prairie 77-41 on Friday in a River Valley Conference South Division matchup in Wellman.
Beau Cornwell had a game-high 28 points as the Bears improved to 8-5 on the season and 7-5 in RVC play while Mid-Prairie dropped to 3-10 on the year and 2-8 in conference play.
Cornwell was 11-of-13 from the floor and 5-of-7 from 3-point range on his way to a game-high 28 points and added five assists and five rebounds in the win.
Cooper Kabela had 18 points, five rebounds and five steals and Brett Schiele had 10 points for West Branch.
