Three wins over top-ranked teams last week has vaulted Liberty High back into the Iowa High School Baseball Coaches Association rankings.

Liberty High went 3-1 last week against Class 3A top-ranked Dubuque Wahlert and then Class 4A top-ranked Cedar Rapids Prairie and on Monday was ranked eighth when the IHSBCA released its most recent set of Class 4A rankings.

The Lightning split a doubleheader at Dubuque Wahlert and swept Cedar Rapids Prairie on Friday following a win over Muscatine on Thursday.

Liberty High (18-6) joins second-ranked Cedar Rapids Prairie, third-ranked City High and tenth-ranked Cedar Rapids Kennedy as Mississippi Valley Conference teams in the 4A rankings.

City High (18-5) remained at third in the 4A rankings after sweeping Cedar Rapids Xavier last week.

Regina (15-4) dropped two spots to ninth in the Class 1A rankings.

Top-ranked teams this week are Pleasant Valley in Class 4A, Dubuque Wahlert in Class 3A, Underwood in Class 2A and Remsen St. Mary’s in Class 1A.
