DES MOINES – Reese Naeve’s first love and future is volleyball.
The all-state kill leader last fall Naeve is an Iowa State volleyball commit.
That doesn’t mean that Naeve doesn’t love her time on the track during the spring.
“I love track, I am going to miss it so much after high school,” Naeve said. “It’s something that I love and the atmosphere with all the fans is so surreal.”
On Saturday Naeve continued to add to her career track and field resume.
Naeve post a top-three finish at the state meet for the second consecutive season on Saturday finishing third in the Class 2A 100 hurdles in a time of 15.09.
The third-place finish in the hurdles gives Naeve a medal in the event for the third consecutive season and comes after the all-state volleyball standout finished runner-up in the 2A high jump last season.
“I definitely wanted to make it back to finals and I just wanted a pr and to run my best time in finals,” Naeve said. “In prelims it wasn’t my best time but it was a really good time but I was in the box thinking ‘I’m winning this thing’ and I pr’d by about .2 seconds.”
Naeve has improved her time and finish in the 100 hurdles each of the past two seasons.
She finished eighth in Class 1A as a freshman in 2023 and improved to fourth in a time of 15.55 last season.
Naeve moved up again on Saturday clocking the best time of her career in her third-place finish.
“I definitely worked hard all season and my coaches and every trained me hard,” Naeve said. “I think I still have a lot left to give and I am really excited for next year.”
