Boys Golf Roundup: West Branch Claims River Valley Conference Title; Regina Finishes Fifth

The West Branch golf team is back on top of the River Valley Conference.
West Branch shot a season-best 313 on Tuesday at Muscatine Municipal Golf Course to win its first River Valley Conference title since 2022 after posting top-three finishes each of the past two seasons.
McGavin Smith and Bryce Anderson each shot a 77 to highlight four Bears that shot 80 or better on Tuesday as West Branch edged Mid-Prairie by a single stroke for the team title.
West Branch was third in 2023 and runner-up at the RVC meet last season before claiming its first title since winning its third straight in 2022.
The top five teams were separated by just four strokes on Tuesday atop a competitive 15-team conference meet.
West Liberty was third with a 316 while Tipton and Regina both shot 317 to finish fourth and fifth.
Smith finished sixth and Anderson was seventh overall to lead West Branch while Paxton Tisinger shot a 79 and Sawyer Jeffries fired an 80 for the Bears.
Regina was led by Noah Clark and Wyatt Kaeding who each shot 78 to finish eighth and ninth respectively while Luke Klingeman also shot a 78.
Ben Bian shot 83 and Corbin Daniel shot an 85 for Regina.
Mid-Prairie’s Bryce Henry shot a one-over-par 73 to win the individual title by three strokes over Tipton’s Owen Steinman.
